Retail spending cutback just around the corner: Deloitte

The retail squeeze is coming, and in lower socio-economic suburbs has probably already started.
Deloitte Access Economics says Australian consumers will start clamping their wallets and purses shut soon, as pressures from sharply higher interest rates, falling house prices, negative real wages growth and a jump in inflation finally put the brakes on what has been a buoyant 12 months for the retail sector.
