The Reject Shop chief executive Phil Bishop has resigned just seven months into the top job for personal reasons, as the discount retailer reported a small increase in first-half sales.

The surprise move means chairman Steven Fisher is on the hunt for a new CEO – moving through two CEOs in less than a year – and chief financial officer Clinton Cahn is stepping in as acting CEO.
