Domino’s Pizza Enterprises is closing more than 200 stores, including one-sixth of its outlets in Japan, in a bid to reduce the number of loss-making restaurants amid investor disquiet and falling sales.
The ASX-listed company operates 3800 pizza stores in Australia, Europe and Asia. The closure of 205 stores – 172 of the 1000 restaurants in Japan, with most of the other shutdowns in Europe and four in Australasia – is one of the first moves by new Domino’s chief executive Mark van Dyck.
