Household spending is showing clear signs of slowing after rate hikes and cost of living pressures, and investors should brace for lower profits at discretionary retailers, especially electrical and furniture categories, according to analysts.

Though the retail industry has enjoyed strong growth over the past two years, the sector is facing many earnings challenges from waning demand to higher discounting and cost pressures from labour to logistics costs.
