After years of decline and a retreat from its full-service ambitions, KPMG’s decision this week to admit defeat in its legal expedition was surprising only in its swiftness.
“The writing’s been on the wall for some time. I was only surprised at the way they did it, as opposed to letting it die slowly,” said one former senior lawyer at the firm.
