Tribunal suffering public service mentality, low morale

Senior members of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal have delivered scathing assessments of the quasi-judicial body, saying it has been let down by political appointments and taken over by its public service staff.

In submissions to the inquiry conducted by former High Court judge Ian Callinan, past and present members said there were growing pains around the 2015 amalgamation of tribunals and morale was low.
