Deloitte blamed ‘transcription issue’ for flawed AI report

Deloitte wrongly told government officials that errors in a major report authored for the employment department were simply transcription issues when they were actually caused by artificial intelligence, and falsely claimed that bureaucrats were aware that AI was being used to complete the work.

Tania Rishniw, deputy secretary of the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, told a Senate committee on Thursday that the department was alerted to errors in the report only when it was contacted by the media on August 22.
