Former CPA Australia CEO Alex Malley's defence: 'I did what I was asked to do'

Former CPA Australia chief executive Alex Malley has defended his $4.9 million exit payment and described the organisation's $6 million marketing strategy as "extraordinarily relevant" and effective, following a damning review.

It came following the release on Thursday of an interim report into the embattled organisation which described its executive as "out of touch" for wasting $6 million promoting a book and TV show centred on Mr Malley.
