Federal Court chief justice flags overhaul to speed up justice

The Federal Court’s chief justice has conceded that it takes too long for complicated commercial disputes to be resolved, floating limits on evidence so wealthier parties do not get an unfair advantage.

Debra Mortimer made the remarks at a discussion with Victorian Chief Justice Richard Niall this week in which she said the Federal Court had been “very accommodating” of some parties and how much time they took.
