Consulting clients look elsewhere as trust in big four plummets
Smaller firms have an opportunity to build trust with clients and take work off the previously dominant big four, whose reputation is in tatters.
To say that 2023 was a bad year for professional services is an understatement. At times over the past 15 months, the media was reporting new problems in the sector almost daily.
Ultimately, the government announced the biggest crackdown on tax adviser conduct in history. And while one firm caused and bore the brunt of the scandal, we can now definitively say the reputational damage has gone beyond one firm.
