Coffee catch-ups put judges at risk of bias: High Court

A Family Court judge who had coffees, drinks and text and phone conversations with a barrister involved in one of his cases fell afoul of rules banning judicial bias, the High Court has found.
The pair met “numerous” times in the two years leading up to Justice John Walters’ February 2018 judgment in a divorce in which barrister Gillian Anderson was representing a wife.
