Attorney-General Christian Porter pushes court efficiencies
The new Federal Attorney-General Christian Porter is pushing for the court system to improve its efficiency after the Productivity Commission revealed wide differences in clearance rates and costs.
One month into his new role as the nation's first law officer, Mr Porter has raised process improvements with leading judges; along with the landmark family law review which could see dramatic changes in court structure and resourcing; transitioning his department after national security responsibilities were shifted to the new Home Affairs department; and ensuring the passage of controversial foreign interference and espionage laws he describes as "critical".
