West Australian Resources Minister Norman Moore has split with some of his cabinet colleagues by declaring that special laws to prevent coalmining in the Margaret River wine region are unnecessary.
The veteran Liberal MP also dismissed suggestions that coalmining was unwelcome in the resource-rich state, despite the recent rejection of two coalmine proposals and a court challenge against a third planned for the sensitive Kimberley region.
