The South Australian government has appointed associate professor Frank Zumbo deputy small business commissioner. He will develop regulations for industry codes for the state. Based at the University of NSW, Mr Zumbo has advised two federal government-appointed committees on codes of conduct covering franchising and retail groceries.

West Australian Resources Minister Norman Moore has split with some of his cabinet colleagues, declaring special laws to prevent coal mining in Margaret River are not necessary.

Metal prices steal Rey's sunshine
