WA launches investigation into Fortescue heritage bungle

An official investigation is under way into whether Fortescue Metals Group breached Western Australia’s Aboriginal Heritage Act when it cleared a sensitive site at Weelamurra Creek earlier this month.

Western Australia’s Aboriginal Affairs minister Ben Wyatt confirmed the investigation was under way after Fortescue apparently failed to meet a condition imposed by Mr Wyatt on works at Weelamurra Creek near Fortescue’s Solomon mining hub.
