WA Labor readying for new uranium mining ban

Western Australia's new resources minister says the McGowan Labor government will consider reintroducing a 'uranium clause' to mining leases in the state to enforce its ban on new uranium mines.

Mines and Petroleum Minister Bill Johnston confirmed the government would stand by its promise of preventing new uranium mines in Western Australia except for those projects that had received the "necessary" approvals to start construction from the previous government.
