Small mining companies were overlooked in the budget after federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers failed to extend a tax incentive for mineral exploration that had provided $182 million in benefits over the past seven years.
The Junior Minerals Exploration Incentive offers a tax deduction to companies investing in greenfield mineral exploration and is due to expire in June.
