Fortescue’s AGM showcased Andrew Forrest’s determination to lead the green energy transition, even if that makes some investors nervous about costs and priorities.
Andrew Forrest never thinks small. Fortescue’s website says the company is focused on becoming the number one integrated green technology, energy and metals company. That’s in the world, of course.
The order of words reflects the extent of Forrest’s global green ambitions, despite Fortescue’s reliance on continuing production of iron ore from its metals division to fund this expansion. At the annual general meeting on Tuesday, the company even altered its name from Fortescue Metals Group to Fortescue Group to demonstrate the change of emphasis.
