Former Anglo American chief executive Mark Cutifani is betting on more consolidation by the world’s biggest miners as they vie for the attention of investors from less capital-intensive sectors such as technology.

The Wollongong-born Cutifani was an interested spectator when BHP made a $75 billion takeover bid for Anglo last year. He had run Anglo between 2013 and 2022.
