Dominic Barton emerges as frontrunner to be next Rio Tinto chairman
London | Canada’s outgoing ambassador to China is leading the race to be the next chairman of Rio Tinto, the global miner that draws the bulk of revenues from supplying the Asian country’s vast steel industry with iron ore.
Dominic Barton, who is best known for leading McKinsey over nine years until 2018, has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Simon Thompson, according to people with knowledge of the situation.
