BHP boss Mike Henry says Chinese steelmakers have newer and more efficient resources than their European counterparts, and their divergent timelines to net zero should reflect the reality of the capital investment cycle.

Mr Henry said BHP understands the need for different countries to adopt their own timelines for achieving carbon neutrality in a speech to the China Development Forum in Beijing on Sunday.
