Alcoa hits out at ‘politicisation’ of Perth refinery closure

An Alcoa executive has hit out at “politicisation” of the company’s move to close its Kwinana alumina refinery south of Perth, insisting state and federal government policies were not to blame.
The US-based company last week announced it would cease production of alumina at its oldest West Australian refinery later this year, cutting hundreds of jobs, citing market pressures and costs.
