Where’s Lachlan? Trump’s lawsuit puts Murdoch succession in focus

As Rupert Murdoch and Donald Trump go to war over the Epstein saga, the media tycoon’s son – who purportedly runs News Corp and Fox – has remained out of the picture.

Amid Donald Trump’s multi-billion-dollar lawsuit that named the Wall Street Journal, News Corp, Rupert, the journalists and even the News Corp CEO, there was one name notably missing. Lachlan Murdoch. Bethany Rae

When Rupert Murdoch stepped down as chairman of Fox and News Corporation in September 2023, it was greeted with a collective eye roll from those who had ever done business with the then 92-year-old.

He would be “chairman emeritus” of both companies, whatever that meant, and his eldest son Lachlan would take over the businesses his father had built over a seven-decade career as a journalist, newspaperman, powerbroker and mogul.
