Nine audits external data security after breach exposes 16,000 readers

Nine Entertainment is reviewing its suppliers’ data security practices after the personal information of about 16,000 subscribers for three of its major mastheads was left exposed online.

Select information about paying print readers of The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Australian Financial Review was accessible to people outside the company via an Amazon Web Services cloud storage container known as an S3 bucket.
