Apple Daily meets to decide on shutting down
Hong Kong | The board of Next Digital was scheduled to meet on Monday to decide whether to shut down the pro-democracy Apple Daily newspaper it publishes, according to an adviser to owner Jimmy Lai, after police in Hong Kong arrested editors and froze its bank accounts last week.
Hong Kong national security officials are blocking the newspaper’s bank accounts, and it may need to close its print and digital operations unless authorities allow access to the funds, said Mark Simon, an adviser to Mr Lai.
