Whyalla’s administrators say steelworks was ‘hard-wired’ for losses

The administrators of the collapsed Whyalla steelworks says the business was losing money partly because it was selling products too cheaply to other parts of British industrial Sanjeev Gupta’s business.

KordaMentha told a meeting of creditors that the major steelworks, north-west of Adelaide, had lost $319 million in the seven months before the South Australian government seized the plant and called in administrators.
