Orica chairman Malcolm Broomhead will step down from the board of the explosives manufacturer within a year, ending what could be the final major role in a career that has spanned some of the nation’s most powerful boardrooms.

Mr Broomhead told Orica shareholders at Tuesday’s annual meeting that he planned to retire around December 2025.
