It is the great conundrum of the start-up - and the source of great frustration to the salaried slaves who dream of taking the plunge into entrepreneurship - exactly how do you come up with the idea? Short of a blinding "Eureka!" moment, where does the inspiration for a disruptive, pain-point-solving, killer new business idea actually come from?
Inspiration can strike anywhere. Speaking at the recent Australian Global Success Stories round table co-hosted by The Australian Financial Review and Chartered Accountants, Dominic Bressan, CEO and co-founder of SaaS (software-as-a-service) mobile ordering platform AirService, says his business partner Stefan Williams was at a bar with a woman, but spent the whole night queuing at the bar for drinks, "watching as other guys hit on the girl that he was with," laughs Bressan.
