On a crisp but sunny Tuesday winter morning at Williams Landing train station in Melbourne's west, commuters are taking their marks to out-position fellow passengers on to the crowded city-bound train.
Some narrowly squeeze on to the train as others make a last-minute dash to board roomier carriages further down the platform.
