PFAS foam leaks on Transurban’s Brisbane toll road rankle council

Transurban’s maintenance practices are being scrutinised by Brisbane’s City Council after hundreds of litres of fire-fighting foam containing PFAS chemicals leaked from tanks into a pump station in the company’s Clem Jones Tunnel.

The Australian Financial Review has learned that the council has been in talks with Transurban over how exactly the foam, which is used to suppress flammable liquid fires caused by spilled petrol, leaked out of two tanks and what the company has done to stop similar leaks from happening in the future.
