The economic viability of Melbourne’s proposed $8 billion-$13 billion airport rail link depends on travellers paying “premium” fares and the popular SkyBus service into the CBD not directly competing with the new trains.
Details of the project’s costs and schedule have been hidden from taxpayers, with many of the financial numbers redacted from the 295-page business case released in late September.
