The double-whammy of court cases launched by regulators against Crown and the Star Entertainment Group has attracted some of Australia’s top commercial lawyers, some of whom charge over $20,000 a day.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is running a civil case against 11 Star directors and officers and the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) is prosecuting Crown, Star and SkyCity, Adelaide. The claims were both in the Federal Court before Justice Michael Lee on Monday.
