Star case to spur directors to dig deeper ‘if there is a smell’

Directors are expected to review the key risks that their companies face and question management more rigorously after the corporate watchdog said on Tuesday it would take legal action against 11 directors and executives of Star Entertainment.

Leading directors, who declined to be named due to not wanting to be critical of their peers, said boards would likely intensify efforts to verify facts and statements made by management, including in cases where executives pushed back.
