Queensland ramps up scrutiny of The Star, warns of tougher regulation
The Star is facing a beefed up probe in Queensland after bombshell revelations in a NSW inquiry and CEO Matt Bekier’s resignation, with the sunshine state’s casino regulator working with Queensland Police and AUSTRAC to investigate the company and staff travelling to NSW this week to meet with their equivalent watchdog.
This comes as the public inquiry in NSW revealed The Star lied to the Bank of China in Macau and fabricated documents showing the money the casino operator had deposited in its account in Macau was from The Star’s cage, when in fact it was not.
