The heads of the country's big four banks are hoping that the coronavirus crisis will provide an opportunity for them to redeem their reputations, which were sorely battered by the scandalous revelations at the Hayne royal commission.

Gone are the bad old days when banks were more than happy to charge hapless customers billions of dollars in fees for financial advice they never received.
