Commonwealth Bank director Rob Whitfield will lead the corporate regulator’s sweeping inquiry into the ASX’s governance and operational shortcomings, assisted by former Reserve Bank of Australia deputy governor Guy Debelle and AGL Energy board member Christine Holman.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission confirmed the three-member panel that will conduct the landmark inquiry in a statement on Thursday, saying it would provide a report by March 31.
