ASX-listed Praemium's $56 million takeover bid for long-standing partner and competitor Powerwrap will create an "ambitious" new player in the fractured, $900 billion wealth management platform market.

Powerwrap's board has unanimously recommended shareholders approve an offer from minority shareholder Praemium to acquire the remaining 85 per cent of shares in a transaction first reported by The Australian Financial Review's Street Talk column.
