Next Westpac chairman key to crisis

Westpac investors are pushing for a big, external appointment to become the besieged bank's next chairman, despite the bank hoping for a smooth internal appointment.
Korn Ferry have been appointed to quickly replenish the Westpac board and recruiters point to former CEOs David Morgan and Gail Kelly or former director Carolyn Hewson as ideal options. Mr Morgan said on Saturday he had not sought and would not accept the role.
