Mawhinney stuck with lawyers’ fees for ‘spurious allegations’
Investment spruiker James Mawhinney has lost a bid to get the corporate watchdog to pay the entirety of his legal fees for its failed attempt to sue him over his involvement in the Mayfair 101 scandal last year, as multiple legal battles between the pair drag on.
The full federal court overturned a 20-year fundraising ban on Mr Mawhinney in September, finding the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s original case against him lacked procedural fairness.
