June set for record D&O premium hikes

The average cost of renewing Directors and Officers (D&O) premiums is set to smash all previous records this month, forcing many major listed companies to consider setting up their own captive insurance companies.

Craig Claughton, a senior executive with insurance broker Marsh, said average premium increases in June were on track to top a record 300 per cent.
