When launching what is his third attempt to spearhead a political movement, billionaire mining magnate Clive Palmer turned to US President Donald Trump for inspiration.

The two men share a knack for bombastic pronouncements, a tendency to insular expressions of nationalism, and a scepticism of vaccines. Both also believe they’ve been the targets of unfair lawsuits by regulators. Compared to Trump’s, those against Palmer are small fry. Though you’d never know it from the vim with which he’s been opposing them.
