Hunt for dividends a lower priority for online traders

Investors using some of the bigger online trading platforms have been pursuing capital gains after the heavy sharemarket sell-off which hit its depths in late March, rather than fretting too much about the heavy cuts in dividends as ASX companies preserve cash in tough times.

Gemma Dale, director of investor behaviour at nabtrade, said there had been some big shifts in strategy among customers, with many piling into the market in late March and early April after the hefty falls.
