Trending fintech Superhero has signed former Australian Securities and Investments Commission James Shipton as a non-executive board director as it speeds to become the first sharemarket broker to add cryptocurrency trading functionality.

The appointment of the former Harvard Law fellow and head of the corporate watchdog comes amid rapid growth of “neo-broking” and “micro-investing” platforms, which have surged in popularity, giving a new generation of investors access to financial markets.
