New York | Former Goldman Sachs banker Tim Leissner was sentenced to two years in prison by a judge in a New York court after he pleaded guilty in 2018 for his involvement in a multibillion-dollar scandal involving Malaysia’s sovereign fund 1MDB.
Leissner, 53, admitted to helping siphon billions of dollars from the Malaysian investment fund, 1MDB, to pay about $US2 billion in bribes to foreign officials while splitting another $US1 billion in kickbacks with others in the scheme.
