Ed Peter’s Duxton empire in pain as it cuts jobs, sells properties

The agricultural and wine empire founded by prominent Adelaide businessman Ed Peter is cutting jobs, selling property and struggling to pay creditors while his hotels business is trying to raise money.

Mr Peter, the former head of Deutsche Asset Management in Asia, chairs Duxton, an investment vehicle that oversees a portfolio of pubs, vineyards, farms and water rights. Those companies are backed by a number of prominent investors, including the billionaire Oatley family, hedge fund manager Richard Magides and Phil King’s Regal Partners.
