Commonwealth Bank is stepping onto the turf of big retailing platforms such as eBay and Afterpay, unveiling plans to refer sales to retailers and use its popular app to bring its mortgage customers better deals from energy and broadband utilities and other businesses.

CBA said it would turbocharge its push beyond selling traditional banking products such as loans to create an ecosystem of services and products for retail and business customers, and use the latest technology to anticipate their needs and link them with each other.
