Bot-backed Suncorp aims for 80pc online claims

Suncorp is aiming to have only one in five customers lodge insurance claims through a contact centre, relying on technology such as machine learning to streamline online processes.

That target would reverse the current status quo – only about 20 per cent of claims are done online today – and be met by boosting usage of technology including web chat facilities or artificial intelligence to settle claims, Brisbane-based Suncorp said on Tuesday.
