ASX to keep CHESS on life support until 2032
ASX will keep the 29-year-old CHESS clearing and settlement infrastructure running until 2032, even as it labours away on a replacement, to ward off further intervention from the corporate watchdog despite concerns surrounding its capacity, reliability and security.
The commitment comes after the market operator pulled the plug on a seven-year project to replace CHESS, which facilitates trading on the securities exchange, with a new blockchain-based concept last November.
