ANZ boss dismisses trading floor scandal as ‘conspiracy theory’

ANZ chief executive Shayne Elliott has told staff the issues facing its trading floor have been conflated into a media conspiracy theory, downplaying a scandal that has led to multiple external investigations.

In a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Mr Elliott told staff the three issues – an investigation into its bond trading, the reporting of inflated data to a government agency and allegations of serious workplace misconduct – were unrelated.
