AMP first-half profit falls 10pc to $513 million

Financial services giant AMP has delivered a weaker than expected underlying interim profit of $513 million as profits from life insurance almost halved and superannuation assets under management shrunk.

The result, unveiled on Thursday morning, was down 10 per cent on the previous corresponding period and below analyst expectations for a profit of $525 million.
